What will go on this weekend in the continuing saga between the Atlanta Falcons and the Green Bay Packers? One thing is certain, the stars will be center stage this week as the newly created rivalry persists at Lambeau Field. Lately google made some changes to their rank algorithm,   the reason cited is that google wanted to provide more relevant results, on official google blog it is estimated 11.8% search results will be affected by this update, in plain English, google thinks about 12% of it’s search results are really bad and need to manipulated. The update was initiated more than a year ago, no wonder I saw a few of my keywords’ ranks dropped like a rock, on the other hand almost all keywords promoted by contextual links are not affected, and a few of them even gained a few positions, it’s obvious that link building the old way is the thing of past, probably due to links crammed sites being de-indexed by google.

So what exactly is linking campaign the old way? a lot of marketing companies did and are doing the plain link building, they put your links on websites which only exist for holding links, the content on those sites will never be updated, it’s safe to assume all of them are trash, the name of link spamming sites is justified. New google algorithm most likely will punish these link spammers,  the links on those spamming sites won’t work anymore.  

Maybe a few examples will make it clear.
